Team Info:

The University of Minnesota Men's Club Hockey Team participates in the Division II tier of the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA).  Typically, tryouts are held in mid-September, and the season runs from early October through the end of February.  The National Championship Tournament is held the first weekend in March.  Everyone who is a full-time student at the University of Minnesota is welcome to tryout for the team.  Most home games are played at Mariucci Arena on campus, and road trips can be as far as Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin, North Dakota, and Iowa.  We are also a member of the Western Collegiate Club Hockey Association.  The WCCHA consists of two different divisions; the Northwest and Southeast. The Northwest consists of the University of Minnesota Twin Cities, University of Minnesota Duluth, St. Cloud State University, Bethel University, North Dakota State University, and the University of North Dakota.  The Southeast division consists of Minnesota State Mankato, University of Wisconsin Madison, University of Wisconsin Eau Claire, University of Wisconsin Lacrosse, University of Wisconsin Superior, University of St. Thomas, and Winona State University.  The Gophers compete in about 20 games per season.

Recruiting:

The University of Minnesota Men's Club Hockey Team competes as a part of the ACHA Division II level.  Besides playing other DII club teams, we also play strong Division I teams, such as the United States Naval Academy.  At the beginning of each season, we host open tryouts at Mariucci Arena.  We do not recruit players or guarantee spots for incoming freshmen or transfers.  Selection for the team is solely based on the tryout.  If your performance is deserving during the tryout, then a spot awaits you here on the Club.  For any questions regarding the team or tryouts, use the "Contact" tab above.

Facilities:

All home games are played at Mariucci Arena or Ridder Arena located on the University of Minnesota campus.  Mariucci is home to the University's NCAA Division I men's hockey team, as well as intramural sports and university classes.  Capacity is 10,000 people.  Ridder Arena is home to the University's NCAA Division I Women's Hockey team, with a capacity of 3,500.  Mariucci is an Olympic Sheet; Ridder is regulation NHL size.  Both facilities are located on campus, mere blocks away from hotels and restaurants.  Downtown Minneapolis is a close 5 minute drive from the arenas.
